The father of a student entered a municipal school in Ribeirão Preto (313 km from São Paulo) armed and threatened teachers, whom he accused of alleged indoctrination and of promoting “gender ideology”, for not having prepared a souvenir in honor of the Day from parents.

The businessman said he wanted to understand the school’s concept of family because it didn’t make a present for the parents. He also questioned why the school had sent a homework assignment in which the role of women at work, at leisure and in society was discussed.

The case took place on the afternoon of last Wednesday (16), and the management of the unit filed a police report against the student’s father following the instructions of the Municipal Secretary of Education.

According to the incident report, the man arrived at the school around 1 pm and went to the teachers’ lounge, where the teachers were having lunch. He was accompanied by the woman.

The man is the father of a student in the 1st year of elementary school at the unit and arrived at the school “a little altered”, according to the incident report – the report does not disclose his name to preserve the child’s identity. Upon entering the teachers’ room, he began to question an activity that would have been proposed to the students and said that the content would have “an indoctrinating and ideological character”.

Then, still according to the police record, the man pulled a gun, which was on his waist, and pointed it at the teachers. He also said that, “if they weren’t teaching anything wrong, there was nothing to be afraid of”, as reported by the school’s management to the police.

The man would have also asked what was the didactic material used in the school and who would have authorized its use. The teachers explained that the books are part of the PNLD (National Textbook Program) and were purchased by the Ministry of Education during the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) administration. After the explanation, the woman asked him to keep the gun and they left the unit, threatening to return the next day.

A Sheet got in touch with his father this Friday morning (18). He said he would only manifest himself through his lawyer, but did not say the professional’s name or telephone number.

He confirmed that he was armed when he entered the school and said that he always carries a gun because he works in a trade. He also stated that he is a CAC (hunters, shooters and collectors) and has a record of the weapon.

The weapons decree, in effect in the country, does not allow CACs to circulate freely with weapons. They can only be transported from the storage location to the shooting or hunting club.

School staff sent a clarification letter to parents this Friday and said that this type of attitude is “an affront against the entire school community. It is a threat against every student, parent, teacher, employee and the entire society.” “.

They also reported that next Monday’s classes (21) are suspended so that the team can promote a “moment of debate and reflection” to think about strategies to combat school violence.

In the letter, the team also clarifies that the homework questioned by the student’s father consisted of research on women’s lives in the past. The activity asked the students to talk to their family members to “find out what the lives of the women in their family were like at other times” so that they could later tell their colleagues in the classroom.

In a note, the Secretary of Education of Ribeirão Preto said that “it repudiates any acts of violence and the threat of a parent to our teachers, within a school, is unacceptable.”

The folder reported that the police report was registered on the same day as the threat and that the case will be investigated by the Civil Police. A Sheet tried to contact the 2nd DP of Ribeirão Preto, which is responsible for the investigation, but received no response.
