Man gets vaccinated 217 times against Covid, says study – 03/06/2024 – Health

A German man who deliberately vaccinated himself against Covid 217 times reported no side effects, according to researchers.

He is probably “the most vaccinated person in history”, according to the results of the study published in the journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases.

The immune system of the 62-year-old man, resident of the city of Magdeburg (central Germany), operates without problems.

The man, whose identity remains anonymous, was vaccinated several times despite doctors’ advice.

The first news surrounding this case emerged in 2022, when researchers realized that he had already been vaccinated 90 times.

Although there were initially suspicions that the man might be involved in an illegal trafficking of vaccination certificates, a prosecutor’s investigation in Magdeburg was closed without charges being brought against him.

The Public Ministry confirmed that the man had been vaccinated 130 times in nine months, says the study.

But the German claims to have received 217 doses of eight different Covid vaccines, including all vaccines that use mRNA technology over 29 months.

The man was “very interested” in undergoing all types of tests to prove the effects of so many vaccinations, explained in a statement Kilian Schober, a virologist at the German University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and co-author of the study.

Some scientists believe that after receiving so many vaccines, a body’s immune cells become less effective as they become accustomed to the antigens.

But that wasn’t the case with this man, according to researchers.

In fact, he had “considerably higher concentrations” of immune cells and antibodies to the Covid virus than a control group of three people who received the three recommended doses, the study says.

His body also showed no signs of fatigue from all those vaccinations: His 217th shot still increased his number of Covid antibodies, researchers found.

The man claims that he did not notice any side effects. He also did not test positive and appears to have never contracted the disease, according to the publication.

The researchers cautioned against drawing too many conclusions.

“Obviously we do not support hypervaccination,” Schober wrote in X.

It is “relatively unlikely” that anyone has received so many doses in history, said Caitjan Gainty, an expert on the history of vaccines at King’s College London, who is not involved in the study.

Spyros Lytras, a virologist at the University of Tokyo, says it was a “comically large number of vaccinations.”

“If he is the most vaccinated person in history, I cannot know, but without a doubt he is the most vaccinated person reported so far,” he says. “And I doubt we’ll see another similar report in the near future.”
