Maestro Maestro Malheiro receives the title of citizen of Amazonas

Manaus (AM) – Conductor Luiz Fernando Malheiro, who is responsible for the musical direction of the XII Encontro de Tenores do Brasil, an event that will bring together, at the Teatro Amazonas, great national and international names in classical singing, will also receive, on October 10th, the title of citizen of Amazonas, granted by the State Legislative Assembly (Aleam).

The tribute, proposed by deputy Dr. Gomes, is a recognition of the dedication and work carried out by the maestro in favor of art in Amazonas, over the last two decades.

Born in São Paulo and recognized by specialized critics as one of the main names in opera in Brazil, Malheiro has lived in Manaus since 2000, when he was invited to direct and conduct the Amazonas Philharmonic Orchestra and the Amazonas Opera Festival (FAO). Now he also takes on the musical direction of the Encontro de Tenores, at the invitation of the event’s creator, the tenor from Amazonas Miqueias William.

“I am moved by the honor, because it is recognizing a choice I made in my life: to live in Amazonas and live as an authentic Amazonian”,

says the conductor.

In his portfolio, Malheiro also conducts the São Paulo Municipal Symphony Orchestra, the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theater Symphony, the Brazilian Symphony, OSESP, the Minas Gerais Symphony, the Minas Gerais Philharmonic, the of Paraná, and the Bahia Symphony Orchestra, in addition to several national and international awards.

Meeting of Tenors

The XII Encontro de Tenores do Brasil takes place on October 25th, at Teatro Amazonas. On stage will be the Ukrainian, living in Italy, Vasyl Solodkyy, the Chilean Enrique Bravo, the São Paulo native Alan Faria, the Pará Wilken Silveira and the Amazonian Miquéias William.

Tickets for the show are now available for sale at the Teatro Amazonas box office and on the website. The event will have the participation of the Amazonas Filarmônica under the direction of guest conductor Miguel Campos Neto.
