Macapá City Hall Sports Schools contribute to the quality of life of children, young people and adults – News of Brazil

Executed by the Municipal Department of Sports and Leisure (Semel), The Escolinha Esportiva activities offered at the Glicério Marques Sports Complex have been contributing to the academic performance and quality of life of children, young people and adults.

Since February this year, Macapá City Hall has made available more than 20 modalities aimed at children and adolescents aged 7 to 17, seniors aged 60 and over and People with Disabilities (PCD).

The sports offered are traditional: futsal, football, boxing, ballet, swimming and volleyball. The modalities are distributed between 8am and 12pm and 2pm and 6pm.

The secretary of Semel, Charles Sampaio highlights that education and sport are fundamental to the quality of life of young people. “It is important that the municipal management always encourages these sports practices, as the school has done an incredible job, providing physical activities and learning moments for the children of Macapá”he emphasized.

The school has martial, conventional and activities for People with Disabilities (PCD), taekwondo/parataekwondo, Jiu-jitsu/parajiu-jitsu, judo/parajudo, Paralympic boccia and karate/parakarate. There are 30 vacancies per category.

For the basketball student, Marie Caxias, The activities had a great impact on your routine. “I had no contact with sports due to the lack of opportunities, but I realized that this was going to change when free classes appeared here at Glicério Marques. My mother enrolled me and I really liked it, because in addition to providing me with quality of life, I can socialize more”he states.
