Parliamentarians from the governing base who are part of the January 8 CPI see the climate to guide, this week, a request for access to bank transactions made by former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro.

Information would be requested from Coaf (Financial Activities Control Council), an anti-money laundering body that has produced Financial Intelligence Reports (RIF) whenever prompted by the commission. One of these documents showed, for example, that Bolsonaro had received R$ 17 million in donations via Pix.

Lula’s base (PT) at the CPI had already tried to regulate access to banking information, but it was unsuccessful. This time, there is a greater expectation that the chairman of the commission, Arthur Maia (União-BA), will agree to take the request for a vote in the commission, made up mostly of government supporters.

“I think we already have enough elements to break the secrecy of the two”, says Deputy Rogério Correia (PT-MG), the main articulator of the request.

“The president said, at the time, that there were not enough facts to lead to a vote on this request and that he would not put it on the agenda, but that he did not refuse in the face of other facts that occurred”, he adds.

The petista affirms that the measure is valid even after the Federal Police asked for the breach of tax and bank secrecy of the former president and the former first lady, in the context of an investigation that investigates alleged deviations of high value gifts offered by foreign authorities. to Bolsonaro. “The CPMI can help in the investigation”, says Correia.

The idea of the government base is to guide the request next Tuesday (15). On the occasion, a request to retain Bolsonaro and Michelle’s passports will also be proposed for consideration, at the request of Correia and federal deputy Jandira Feghali (PC do B-RJ).
