In an interview with the channel I updated you, released this Sunday (13), former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) criticized the preventive arrests decreed for his two former assistants: lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid and sergeant Luis dos Reis. For the former representative, the investigations aim to force award-winning accusations with the objective of reaching him. The interview aired this Sunday was recorded on August 1st.

“The goal is always an award-winning delation. What are you going to report? And the other [objetivo]is to hit me”, said Bolsonaro.

They were arrested in an operation by the Federal Police (PF), carried out on May 3, against alleged fraud in vaccine cards. On that occasion, Captain Sérgio Rocha Cordeiro was also arrested.

“I have two of my direct assistants arrested, 90 days. There are two that weren’t direct, but they’re still in jail. They’re active: Cid and Sergeant Reis. And whose punishment, if they were guilty, they may even be, I don’t know, it would not be amenable to this preventive measure that they are suffering now, ”said Bolsonaro.

On Friday (11), Cid was also the target of an operation that investigated the alleged attempt to sell gifts delivered by foreign delegations to the Presidency of the Republic.

Bolsonaro did not comment on the subject in the program. In a note issued on Friday, the president’s defense denied any misuse of public goods.

Bolsonaro criticized arrest of January 8 protesters

Bolsonaro also mentioned the arrest of protesters who participated in the acts of January 8. Last week, 162 defendants were released by decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

“We have hope for a good ending to this [CPMI do 8 de Janeiro]. Logically, we do not forget the suffering of the 200 or so people,” said Bolsonaro.

Former president criticized Lula

Also during the interview, Bolsonaro again criticized President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and stated that the PT would have removed armored vehicles from his private security. According to him, the withdrawal was made by the Civil House after returning from the United States.

“A former president is entitled to eight cars. I confess that when he was a deputy, he thought it was exaggerated. But, in my particular case, I cannot go to the bakery because of the harassment and also because of the possibility of another lawsuit”, he said.

Bolsonaro also commented on the economic direction of the Lula government and also criticized Petrobras’ new pricing policy. He defended the policies adopted in his government, such as the reduction of the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) on fuels.

“And I managed, together with Parliament, not with the BIC pen, to zero federal taxes on all fuels: alcohol, gasoline and cooking gas. We put a ceiling on ICMS. It had stated that it charged 35% of ICMS and another 2% of the Fund to Combat Poverty. It had stated that it charged R$2.32 of ICMS per liter of gasoline”, he said.

“I’m going to participate”, says Bolsonaro about acting in the next elections

The former president spoke about the ineligibility and reinforced that he will continue to act behind the scenes of politics and in the next municipal elections. “I’m going to participate, if I’m in physical condition, I’m going to participate a lot. The big game will be in 2026. There are 56 seats for the Senate. Let’s have at least one name in each state. The number will be 222 ″, he said.

And he added: “I, unelectable, think I can work much harder than eligible […] If you dominate the Senate, in a good sense, have a majority that is really responsible for making Brazil work, you change the destiny of Brazil”.

Another theme of the interview was the crowdfunding made by supporters, which raised R$ 17 million in donations through Pix. “I didn’t ask, but I thank you. It was an initiative by many people”, said the former president.
