President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) vetoed, this Tuesday (30), an excerpt from the law that instituted the Emergency Program for the Resumption of the Events Sector (Perse) that determined the transfer of 5% of the resources collected by the S System to the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur).

In vetoing the article that would affect the services of Sesc and Senac, the president argued that the transfer of resources could “result in losses for some relevant social services provided by entities of the S System”. The amount was included by the Chamber of Deputies and would be used to fund and promote Brazilian tourism abroad, without resulting in an increase in the tax burden.

The impact of sanctioning the article was even calculated by Sistema S, which estimated a cut of BRL 440 million in resources. Employees of the entities even held a protest in São Paulo against the transfers about two weeks ago.
