President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said this Wednesday (15) that obesity “is a disease that causes as much harm as hunger”, and then made reference to the Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, saying that “that’s why [obesidade] that he has been riding a bicycle”.

“No one is too thin here, except our poet here. The rest are all a bit obese, which is also a disease and we need to take care of it. Obesity causes as much harm as hunger,” said the PT candidate. “That’s why Flávio Dino is riding his bike, because he knows he’s going to need the State to take care of this evil with great care”, added Lula, generating laughter from the public.

The statements were given this Wednesday, 15, at the Planalto Palace, during the launch ceremony of the National Program for Public Security with Citizenship (Pronasci). Recently, Lula had already made a controversial statement, in relation to the obese: “If there is someone going hungry in Brazil, it is because there are people eating more than they should”.
