Lula says Nísia is “the president’s” minister and is not “exchangeable”

Brasilia DF) – President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said, this Friday morning (14), during the sanctioning of the Mais Médicos program, that the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, is the president’s personal choice, and not “changeable” . The representative also praised the chief minister of the Institutional Relations Secretariat, Alexandre Padilha, responsible for appointing the former head of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation.

“It was Padilha, who dreamed of becoming Minister of Health again, who brought Nísia to talk to me. We are in a period when the National Congress is on vacation, and every day I read the change of ministers in the newspaper. There are ministers who are not interchangeable, who are the president’s personal choice. Nísia is not a minister of Brazil, she is my minister”,

said Lula.

“Therefore, she has a function to fulfill and she knows that the only prospect she has of leaving is if she does not fulfill her correct function. She knows,” she reinforced.

The Ministry of Health was one of the ministries identified as a possible target for exchange, due to agreements to please the National Congress, as well as the ministries of Tourism, Sports and the Environment. As soon as the possibility was aired, however, Lula ruled out moves in Health.

Relationship with the National Congress

During the speech, the president also mentioned the relationship with the National Congress, especially with regard to dialogue to approve government agendas. According to the Chief Executive, Planalto does not have the objective of “fighting with deputy and senator”.

“Our relationship with Congress has also changed. We don’t want to be fighting with deputy and senator. Senator is not subordinate to the President of the Republic, so that the materials sent are approved. We have to order and convince that it is important to be approved, and accept their changes”, pointed out Lula.
