The federal government declared a state of environmental emergency for a number of regions of the country at different times of the year because of the risk of forest fires.

Signed by the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, the act was published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Thursday (8).

The publication of the ordinance allows public bodies, for example, to contract services for a fixed period without the need for a selection process — or the extension of current contracts — with the aim of remedying problems caused by adverse conditions.
