Lula criticized Bolsonaro’s management of Covid-19: “there will be a day when someone will be judged for irresponsibility and neglect”
Brasilia DF) – President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) harshly criticized his predecessor, Jair Bolsonaro (PL), during a speech at the closing of the 17th National Health Conference, taking place in Brasília.
According to the PT, “Brazilians in good faith” recognize that, thanks to health professionals and the Unified Health System (SUS), the country did not reach one million deaths “or more” from Covid-19. And that the responsibility for the victims of the disease lies with Bolsonaro.
“Because the denialist who governed this country has to assume responsibility for at least part of the 300,000 deaths, of the 700,000 people who died in this country. Because people died due to lack of attention, denialism, lack of vaccine, lack of respirator ”, continued the president.
Once again, Lula called Bolsonaro a genocide.
“There will be a day in this country when Covid-19 will be studied in more depth and there will be a day when someone will be judged for the irresponsibility and neglect they had in the treatment of SUS. Someone who decided to challenge science, the World Health Organization (WHO). Nothing was respected and, moreover, he forced Army laboratories to produce chloroquine to help deceive the Brazilian people”, added Lula.
At this time, when stating that this type of attitude would not go “unpunished”, the public shouted “no amnesty” and “unelectable”.
At the same event, Lula guaranteed the continuity of minister Nísia Trindade and said that the national nursing floor will be paid to civil servants retroactively to May of this year.
