Announcement was made at the 17th National Health Conference in Brasilia
Brasilia DF) – The Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, said this Wednesday (5) that the government will pay the national nursing floor, retroactively since May. The announcement was made during the 17th National Health Conference, in Brasília.
“The federal government works to implement the nursing floor. We will implement it in the public sector as per the decision of the Federal Supreme Court [STF]guaranteeing the nine installments planned for 2023”
he declared.
During a speech at the event, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva confirmed the retroactive payment to May, the month in which STF Minister Luís Roberto Barroso established rules for paying the minimum wage to professionals working in the health system of states and municipalities within the limits amounts received by the federal government.
Lula argued that nursing’s work cannot be considered minor. “There are people who think that a nurse’s salary of BRL 4,000 or so is expensive”he said.
“But we need to effectively assess the value of work for what it represents in our lives. Who takes people to shower, who will clean people, who gives food, who gives injections, who measures the pressure, who takes them to the bathroom are exactly the people from below, who work. And, therefore, these people have to be valued”
he added.
In an interview with radio stations during the program Good morning, Minister, the Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, said that some flaws in the text of the law delayed the transfer of the value to states and municipalities, but that this will be resolved.
