President Lula appointed Antonio Paulo Vogel to the executive secretariat of the Ministry of Sports, which is headed by licensed deputy André Fufuca, appointed by the PP for Esplanada.
Vogel was Abraham Weintraub’s number 2 at the Ministry of Education during the administration of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
Weintraub and Vogel’s management at the MEC marked the peak of the body’s use for Bolsonaro’s political and ideological clash in the area of education.
He even moved behind the scenes to take charge of the department after Weintraub left the previous government.
However, what weighed against him at the time was the fact that he was Deputy Secretary of Finance in the administration of Fernando Haddad (PT) at São Paulo City Hall and secretary of the government of the Federal District in the government of Rodrigo Rollemberg (PSB).
Now, he will be number 2 at the Ministry of Sports. The department is under the command of Fufuca, who took over the body in September after articulating to reinforce the centrão’s participation in the federal Executive.
