Lucio Flavio leaves Botafogo and wants his work to “be crowned”

Lucio Flavio will not remain at Botafogo as Tiago Nunes’ assistant. And even before his departure was made official, following a decision by the owner of the club’s Football Association (SAF), John Textor, he had already said goodbye. On social media, he wished that the work would be crowned in this final stretch of Brasileirão.
At the request of the players, Lucio Flavio was hired to replace the fired Bruno Lage. But his work in command of the team in the Portuguese coach’s place had no effect and, after eight matches, with a bad record of two wins (in the first games), two draws and four defeats, he ended up losing the trust of the fans, who demanded his exit.

It was imagined that he would return to his assistant role, but the club no longer saw the climate for the former player to remain and his departure was inevitable. Lucio Flavio made a point of showing that he will continue to support the cast.
“This is an image that only happens when a team is champion! Players, staff, committee and management… May this last journey crown your work. Go in faith, work and humility”, he wrote on his networks social media, using an image with Botafogo players throwing it into the air in celebration of an achievement, already predicting another in this Brasileirão.
Finally, the official farewell to the former coach, who had already “broken down” in his role on several occasions. “Thank you, Botafogo! Your lonely star guides you.” He arrived at the club in this last spell in 2020 as a technical assistant, replacing Paulo Autuori and Renê Weber. And he had already coached the team in 2022 with the fall of Enderson Moreira.
