“Legislative decided to bow to the creation of the law by the Judiciary”

Deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) spoke this Tuesday (6th) about the decision of the Chamber of Deputies to confirm the impeachment of his mandate and stated that the “Legislative Power decided to bow to the creation of the law by the Judiciary “. The loss of mandate was determined by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in May. With the decision of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, the parliamentarian still awaits the definition of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) on the issue.

“Once again, the Legislative Power decided to bow to the creation of the law by the Judiciary. Today, the house of the people has become against the will of the people. I fought and will fight until the end for the voters. My crime was to have defended my values , the truth and having sought to put corrupt politicians in jail for the first time in the history of Brazil”, said the parliamentarian.

Earlier, the document declaring the loss of Dallagnol’s mandate, Board Act 72, of June 6, 2023, was signed by the mayor, Arthur Lira, and by the other members of the collegiate, deputies Marcos Pereira, Sóstenes Cavalcante, Luciano Bivar, Maria do Rosário, Júlio César and Beto Pereira.

In a note, the Board informed that “it is not up to the Chamber, or any of its organs, to discuss the merits of the decision of the Electoral Justice. loss of mandate, as already decided by the Electoral Justice”.

“When I came to the Chamber, some people said that I should bow to the great powers, agree with the way this system and the game works. But I don’t regret it at all and I wouldn’t do anything different to keep my mandate. I wouldn’t stop telling the truth and I wouldn’t stop fighting to be the voice of society’s indignation”, said Dallagnol.

Appeals to the STF

Deputy Renata Abreu, national president of Podemos, reinforced that there is already an action in the Supreme Court to try to reverse the impeachment. And, if it is not possible to resume the mandate, the party will continue trying to ensure that Dallagnol’s vacancy can be allocated to another deputy of Podemos. There is a dispute with the PL for that seat in Parliament.

“We still continue with an action, with a precautionary measure, which is in the Judiciary [STF]fighting for maintenance and we are going to file a complaint fighting for the place of Podemos”, said the president of the caption.

After the announcement of the Board of Directors’ decision, the Chamber informed that the Justice will define who will occupy Dallagnol’s vacancy, since there is a dispute between Itamar Paim (PL) and Luiz Carlos Hauly (Podemos).
