Legislative Assembly holds Solemn Session in honor of Sailor’s Day – News of Brazil

On the afternoon of this Tuesday (12), the plenary of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amapá was the stage for a Solemn Session dedicated to celebrating Sailor’s Day, to be celebrated this Wednesday, 13. The initiative, proposed by the state deputy Rodolfo Vale (PCdoB), aimed to highlight and praise the role of the military who, through naval power, dedicate themselves to defending the homeland, contributing significantly to the country’s security.
The date, established in honor of the birth of the Force’s patron, Admiral Joaquim Marques Lisboa, the Marquis of Tamandaré, recognizes the achievements and values cultivated during the military career of this national hero. Furthermore, the celebration highlights the Brazilian Navy’s commitment to social inclusion, the protection of the Blue Amazon, inland waters and the defense of maritime borders. The Navy’s role in critical situations, such as natural disasters, firefighting operations and hospital assistance to riverside dwellers and indigenous peoples, was also highlighted.
The president of the Legislative Assembly, state deputy Alliny Serrão, highlighted the importance of the Brazilian Navy’s contribution to the Amazon region and the state of Amapá. “It is a recognition from the Legislative Assembly of the work of these men and women who are dedicated to defending our borders, our waters and our people, developing actions that benefit our population”, emphasized the parliamentarian.
The state deputy Rodolfo Vale, author of the proposal, highlighted the relevance of the Force in protecting national sovereignty. “This tribute is the result of the awareness of the licensed state deputy, Paulo Nogueira, who provoked the Assembly for this fair and important recognition”he pointed out.
The judge Adam Carvalho, President of the Court of Justice of the State of Amapá (Tjap), praised the Navy’s work in inspecting vessels in the region, highlighting the importance of this effort for the safety of the local population.
The Secretary of State for Aquaculture and Fisheries, licensed state deputy Paulo Nogueira, emphasized the relevance of the Navy in crucial moments. “This honor highlights the relevant work that the Navy carries out for our population, a well-deserved tribute for those who carry out with such dedication a mission as noble as the mission carried out by this Armed Force”he stated.
The Frigate Captain and Captain of the Ports of Amapá, João Batista Reis, expressed his gratitude for the tribute, stating that the Legislative Assembly had become a sailor’s home. The colonel Jorge Antônio Santos Costa, Chief of Staff of the 22nd Jungle Infantry Brigade, highlighted the importance of the tribute for recognizing the Navy as a fundamental Armed Force in the defense of national territory.
During the ceremony, applause was given to the president of the Civil Construction Industry Union, Glauco Cei, and to the military captain-lieutenant José Carlos Silva, 1st lieutenant Fernanda Raquel Sousa, sub-officer João Martinho, 1st sergeant Luiz Carlos Alves, corporal Willian Cavalcante and sailor Pablo Yuri da Costa. In addition, Amapá citizenship titles were granted to Frigate Captain João Batista Reis and Colonel Jorge Antônio Santos Costa.
The table of honor was attended by the president of Alap, state deputy Alliny Serrão (União), judge Adão Carvalho, president of Tjap, state deputies Edna Auzier (PSD) and Rodolfo Vale (PCdoB), colonel Jorge Antônio Santos Costa, Frigate Captain João Batista Reis and Paulo Nogueira, Secretary of Aquaculture and Fisheries and licensed state deputy.
