Promising basketball player Bronny James, eldest son of NBA superstar LeBron James, is in stable condition after suffering a cardiac arrest Monday while training with his college team.

Bronny James, 18, “suffered a cardiac arrest while training” with his teammates at the University of Southern California (USC), explained a statement from the James family.

“The medical team was able to rescue Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now stable and is no longer in the ICU,” reads the text. “We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and will inform the media when more information is available.”

LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and his wife Savannah sent “their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC athletic and medical staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes,” the statement concluded.

Last May, Bronny James announced his commitment to UCLA for the upcoming season, which should be his last before making the leap to the NBA.

The talented and popular teen, who has more than 7 million followers on Instagram, was one of America’s hottest high school prospects, and when it came time to make the leap to college basketball, he had several offers from other top teams.

Some analysts listed the forward as a possible top-ten pick for the 2024 NBA draft.

LeBron James, 38 and the all-time leading scorer in NBA history, has repeatedly expressed his intention to stay active until he can play with Bronny in the professional basketball league.

Among the first figures to send their best wishes to Bronny was former Lakers legend Magic Johnson.

“We are praying for LeBron and Savannah’s son Bronny after learning he has had cardiac arrest. We are praying and hoping he makes a full and speedy recovery,” Johnson wrote on Twitter.
