One of the most emblematic tourist attractions in Manaus, Largo São Sebastião is now a Historical and Cultural Heritage Site of the State of Amazonas. Authored by state deputy Roberto Cidade (UB), president of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam), Law No. 6,798/2024, which classifies it as Historical and Cultural Heritage, aims to guarantee the protection and preservation of the iconic space of the capital of Amazonas , allowing its rich history and influence on local culture to be passed on to future generations.

When declared as Historical and Cultural Heritage, any types of modifications and/or structural changes are limited.

“By officially making it a Historical and Cultural Heritage of Material Nature, we will be committed to ensuring that this place continues to play its vital role in promoting the culture, art and history of the State of Amazonas. Largo São Sebastião is one of the most emblematic places in Manaus. The history of this square is intertwined with the evolution of the city itself, from its colonial origins to the present day”, stated the deputy president.
