Kitesurf Norte athletes seek world record – News of Brazil

“We have already done several adventures and broken several records within the Amazon. Amapá is a place that puts us at the forefront of modern sport, which will debut as an Olympic sport in 2024; we will do ‘half’ of the Brazilian coast, it has never been done. Many sailors traveled outside the country at a greater distance than us, but with naval support”, reported Eliton, in an exclusive interview with Daily Communication System.

Eliton also said that the trip will be done in a ‘nomadic’ style; Sailors will carry a two-and-a-half-kilo bag attached to their board and three liters of water on their backs. Where there is no civilization, travelers will sleep in the open, in miners’ nets, eating human food.

The trio of kitesurfers will pass through the states of Rio Grande do Norte, where the departure will be, through Ceará, Piauí, Maranhão, Pará and, finally, Amapá.

The athletes report that the distance covered during the journey could break a world record in the hydrofoil, marking the first trip of this magnitude carried out without the support of boats or jet-skis.
