Karate and jiu-jitsu project is carried out for students of Elita Nunes Municipal School – News of Brazil

This Tuesday morning (9) a lively and willing group entered the gates of the Elita Nunes Melo Municipal School, in the Novo Buritizal neighborhood, and took off their shoes to position themselves on the mat (right at the entrance of the school) waiting for the teacher of Karate Ederson Coutinho, responsible for teaching this modality in the unit.
According to Master Ederson, who is also coach of the Amapaense Karate Team, martial arts, as a whole, help individuals in physical development, concentration, discipline, balance and strength. He says that the partnership with education institutions seeks to contribute to the development of students and discover new talents.
“Karate is an educational tool, it works the mind and body of those who practice it and this project in schools can reveal talents in this sport”commented.
For the manager of Emef Elita Nunes, Alban Cordeiro, Karate and Jiu-Jitsu classes also function as a form of socialization and school discipline. “Our intention is to make the school a sports hub for these modalities to encourage school attendance and the educational development of students”explained the manager.
Alban pointed out that the activity takes place after regular school classes, so as not to affect student learning.
David Felipe, 6 years old, 1st year student, spoke with joy about taking karate classes. “I am really happy! It’s really cool to take classes. I’m learning new things and I’m going to show them at home”, said the little one.
Maria Julia Dias, David Felipe’s colleague, said that she already wanted to do martial arts and when she found out about the classes, she asked to sign up. “I like karate because it’s a beautiful fight and I think it’s really cool! I am really happy”, said excitedly.
The students were attentive to the commands of Master Ederson Coutinho, who passed on the first teachings of Karate in this class, both in practice and in discipline.
Classes will be offered every Tuesday and Thursday, in the morning and afternoon shifts.
This is an initiative by Emef Elita Nunes and the Municipal Department of Education (Semed), in partnership with the Municipal Coordination of Sports and Leisure (Comel), with support from the ‘Jiu-jitsu at School Project’.
Timeline:
Tuesday and Thursday, from 8 am to 9 am, 1st and 2nd year students;
From 9am to 10am
3rd to 5th grade students.
Tuesday, from 4:00 pm to 5:20 pm, 1st and 2nd year students
Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:20 p.m., 3rd to 5th grade students
