Júnior Favacho defends land regularization and technical support to boost production in settlements in Amapá – News of Brazil

The chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Supply (CAB) of the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap), deputy Júnior Favacho (MDB) defended that rural producers who work in existing settlements in Amapá need to have access to land regularization and technical support to develop. The parliamentarian’s speech took place during the CAB meeting that took place this Monday morning (14), and brought together representatives of state public bodies to discuss the precarious situation of most of the settlements in Amapá.

In addition to Júnior Favacho and the other members of the commission, the superintendent of the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra) in Amapá, Gersuliano da Silva Pinto, the coordinator of settlements and quilombos of Amapá Terras, Marcus Keynes, and the Secretary of State for Transport, Valdinei Amanajás. All gave an overview of the work being carried out by their bodies in the 56 existing settlements in Amapá, and the support given to the settlers.

Júnior Favacho informed the meeting that CAB was approached by representatives of the Raimundo Osmar Ribeiros settlement, located in the municipality of Macapá, to deal with the difficulties that the settlers are experiencing, ranging from the lack of legal security, lack of land licensing, to the difficulty for producers to access lines of credit and technical support. They still complain about the precarious situation of the neighboring roads, which considerably hinders the flow of production.

“Unfortunately, these are problems faced by most of the existing settlements in the state. We are listening to these families of producers and taking these demands to the competent bodies. If we can guarantee land tenure regularization in these settlements, if we use technology and resources to optimize the production of these families, and if we guarantee the sale and purchase of this production, I am certain that these producers will help to raise rural production in Amapá to another level. ”, said the deputy.

Júnior Favacho also stated that CAB will propose the holding of a Seminar that will bring together representatives of all existing settlements in the state and public bodies that deal with issues related to land regularization, environmental licensing, technical assistance for production, and infrastructure of roads and vicinals. “We want everyone to be committed to this goal, which is to transform the reality of these settlements, so that they can get out of poverty and start producing wealth and generating jobs and income for their residents”he said.

According to Gersuliano Pinto, Incra is fully interested in participating in discussions regarding settlements and contributing to the solution of problems. “Today we have 56 settlement projects in the state, of which 11 are recognized for credit purposes. But some of them lack infrastructure and state support. In addition, Amapá today does not have a consolidated agricultural policy, which causes the rural exodus to happen even with the settlements”, said the superintendent.

Valdinei Amanajás said that Setrap has been visiting the settlements and has noticed the problems that hinder the flow of production. He stated that the state is committed to resolving these issues, and congratulated the CAB for raising the debate around this issue.

“We are identifying and mapping these problems in the branches of the settlements in order to find a solution. This work that the Agriculture and Supply Committee of the Assembly is doing with the settlements is important, and we make ourselves available to the committee to contribute”, concluded.
