Judge sends Tacla Duran’s report against Moro and Deltan to the PF – 03/28/2023 – Power

Federal judge Eduardo Appio, in charge of the remaining cases of Operation Lava Jato in Curitiba, sent a letter to the Federal Police of Paraná this Tuesday (28) with the accusations made by the defendant Rodrigo Tacla Duran against former judge Sergio Moro and former attorney Deltan Dallagnol, now congressmen.

In the document, Appio states that the content is being forwarded to the PF for “urgent initiation of a police investigation aimed at investigating the practice, in theory, of the crime of extortion (allegedly federal political agents)”. Moro and Deltan reject the accusations.

The reports were made this Monday (27) by Tacla Duran, at a hearing scheduled by Judge Appio within the process in which the lawyer responds for the crime of money laundering.

In the letter sent to delegate Rivaldo Venâncio, who recently took over as regional superintendent of the PF, Appio informs that he is attaching a copy of the minutes of the hearing.

On Monday, however, Appio had already informed during the hearing that the matter would fall under the jurisdiction of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), due to the special jurisdiction of those cited by Tacla Duran – Moro is a senator for União Brasil-PR; Deltan is a federal deputy for Podemos-PR.

It was with such a justification that Appio did not ask Tacla Duran for details about what he was trying to narrate – the lawyer says that Deltan was persecuted for not having accepted an extortion practiced by people close to Moro. Similar statements had already been made by Tacla Duran since 2017 to journalists and in Congress.

In the 13th Federal Court of Curitiba, the criminal action of Tacla Duran is suspended by determination of the STF. But the hearing ended up scheduled by Judge Appio after his decision to revoke the preventive detention that had been ordered against the lawyer when Moro was still a judge.

Born in Brazil, with dual citizenship for being the son of a Spaniard, Tacla Duran lives in Spain, which has rejected an extradition request submitted by Brazil.

In an order after Monday’s hearing, Judge Appio said the defendant would be assigned to the federal witness protection program.
