Athletes will compete in the tenth edition of Amazon Abu Dhabi, this Saturday (6), in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – Shopping Ponta Negra will host this Friday (5), at 7pm, the official weigh-in and face-off session for jiu-jitsu athletes who will compete in the tenth edition of Amazon Abu Dhabi, which takes place in the capital of Amazonas this weekend. In total, 28 athletes from the state who will star in the fights face each other in front of the public before facing each other on the mat.

It will be the last weigh-in and the final face-off between the fighters who will compete on Saturday. The traditional and protocol moment also works as a thermometer for the public about what the atmosphere will be between the athletes before the dispute. The event is free and will take place on the L2 floor.

“The weigh-in is one of the stages of the competition. Before that, the athlete still undergoes a medical evaluation. With the weigh-in, we confirm whether the fighters are at the same weight and will be able to face each other on that card. Let’s say it’s the athlete’s first fight, which is psychological, to show the opponent their level of preparation”,

explains fighter Robert Pato, organizer of the competition.

Before weighing in and facing off, this Friday, the protagonists of Amazon Abu Dhabi 2024 will also do a demonstration training session for the shopping center’s public.

The Marketing Manager at Shopping Ponta Negra, Priscila Furtado, highlights that the event opens the shopping center’s schedule for the month of April, which will be marked by actions in honor of mothers and to raise awareness about autism.

“This weigh-in and face-off event is a classic and official stage of the fighting competition and Shopping Ponta Negra enters into this partnership as a supporter of the sport and also with the mission of offering a unique opportunity for customers to see the athletes up close and personal. get into the spirit of competition”,

he said.

Organized by RP Eventos, Amazon Abu Dhabi takes place this Saturday (6), starting at 8pm, at the Vasco Vasques Convention Center, in the central-south area of ​​Manaus. There will be 17 fights between men’s and women’s cards with the participation of athletes from the capital of Amazonas and Boa Vista (RR).
