Manaus (AM) – The Amazonian jiu-jitsu community is holding a seminar and a raffle to benefit black belt Maik Matos, one of the toughest fighters in the gentle art scene in the North Region. The purpose of the campaigns is to raise funds for the super champion on the mats, who is getting ready to face yet another surgery. Forget trophies and medals, this time the fight is for life.

The charity seminar on behalf of Maik Matos will take place this Saturday, February 25th, at 10 am, at Academia Ribeiro Jiu-Jítsu, located at Rua Rio Madeira, 1189, in Vieiralves. The event is open to everyone – athletes, teachers and sports lovers. The contribution costs only R$ 50 and the amount can be deposited directly into the athlete’s PIX (92) 99219-5168, on behalf of Felipe Maik de Oliveira Matos.

In addition to helping the warrior of life, those who participate will have the opportunity to learn the secrets of jiu-jitsu with Melqui Galvão, Mica Galvão, Diogo Reis and Gabriel Moraes. The first is the leader of one of the biggest academies on the planet today, the Melqui Galvão School, while the three are world-renowned Amazonian black belts. “As most people know, I faced difficulties that cancer brought me in 2020 and 2021. And today, with post-surgical complications, I am preparing to fight a new fight. On February 28th, I will undergo a new surgery, and as I have never felt alone in this battle, I am asking for everyone’s help to raise funds that will help with expenses. I’ve always been an athlete and depend 100% on this income, which is jiu-jitsu, and I haven’t been able to work for six months now”, explained the black belt when detailing his drama.

The seminar and the raffle are complementary. The great Amazonian sports family – and no matter the modality – can join the campaigns, participating in the two solidarity actions. As an athlete, Maik Matos has always taken the flag of Amazonas to the highest places on the podium in local, national and international competitions. With technique and, above all, honor to the teachings of jiu-jitsu.
