Neymar’s sad ‘blessures’ routine – 02/20/2023 – Sandro Macedo

In a year, discussion, controversy and injury. In the other, controversy, discussion and injury. One more pass and there it comes again, injury, discussion and controversy. Or, as the French would say, “blessure, dispute and polemique”.

There’s no way, year in, year out, this is the sweet and sad routine of poor rich boy Neymar. It’s a damn combo. Not even the number 10 can withstand so much injury. It seems like an eternal “Spell of Time”.

In the most recent manifestation of the combo, Neymar had a sprain in his right ankle in a match against Lille, for the French Championship —French Championship, at the current stage, is what we call State here, an obligation for which Qatar Saint-Germain has to play the only thing that really matters to the gang there, the Champions League.

Apparently, the sprain was not the most serious, considering other injuries in the striker’s career. And it is not the first year that the Brazilian has been absent from PSG in the final stretch of the Champions League. In fact, it’s almost routine.

This combo provokes more irritation in the crowd than in the teammates. And a new elimination for Bayern in the Champions League, very close to happening, could mean the end of Neymar’s story in the City of Light – even if he conquers another Francesão.

Since 2017 at PSG, Neymar is still there because between one injury and another he delivers moments of pure delight. The Brazilian plays games or has moments within a game that manage to combine the qualities of Messi and Cris Ronaldo at the same time. Not even the bull Mbappé can do that, and that’s no small feat. The current European football season, which began in the second half of 2022, seemed to be tailored to Neymar. The year he arrived well to compete in the Cup and seemed to distance himself from the cursed combo. Unfortunately, the Brazilian suffered a “blessure” in Qatar and, in the game that made the difference, Brazil was eliminated. The faded playmaker who shone in the Cup and led his team to the title was the other one from PSG, Messi.

Now the first rumors of transactions for the next season appear. In one of them, according to a website, Neymar would have been offered to the five richest clubs in the richest league in the world, the Premier League: Chelsea, two Manchesters, Liverpool and Newcastle of Arabia (no, the leader Arsenal is not one of the five richest). Chelsea have already admitted talks.

It is possible, therefore, that young Neymar is close to abandoning the “blessures”. We hope it is for a future without “injuries”.
