Former federal deputy Jean Wyllys (PT) called the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), a “gay with homophobia” when criticizing the decision of the leader of the Gaucho executive to maintain civic-military schools in the state.

“That right-wing and far-right straight governors would do this was expected. But a gay one?”, he questioned, in a comment on Twitter. Wyllys should occupy a position in the Secretary of Communication of the Lula government.

The former deputy, who returned to Brazil four years after leaving the country and giving up his third term in the Chamber amid threats to his physical integrity, also said that gays “with internalized homophobia develop libido and fetishes in relation to authoritarianism and uniforms”.

Leite countered by stating that the former deputy’s demonstration was depressing and full of prejudice. “It does nothing to build a society with more respect and tolerance,” he said. “I regret your ignorance”, completed the national president of the PSDB.

“Depressing is an attempt at pinkwashing”, Wyllys replied, citing the movement of appropriation of LGBTQIA+ community themes for the sale of products and services by companies that have no history of supporting the cause or proximity to this public.
