Japan offers scholarship to Amazon teachers

Manaus (AM) – The Japanese Government, through the Embassy of Japan in Brazil, is accepting applications for the scholarship program for Brazilians at Japanese universities. At the Consulate General of Japan in Manaus, educators from the states of Amazonas, Acre, Rondônia and Roraima, who teach Elementary and High School, will be able to apply for the “Teachers’ Training” scholarship.
The objective of the program is to select professionals to carry out research, in Japanese universities, in areas related to education, and apply them in their schools in Brazil.
Mext Scholarships (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology of Japan) is open for registration in the 2023 Selection Process and will be available until next February 16th. The opportunity includes teachers, managers, pedagogical advisors and educational assistants who have at least five years of experience in state, municipal or private education networks. Another criterion is that applicants are fluent in English and have basic knowledge of Japanese.
The cultural adviser of the Consulate General of Japan in Manaus, Erika Yukari, highlighted the main gains that an educator from Amazonas can obtain with the experience of studying in Japan.
“The scholarship holder will acquire knowledge of Japanese education, being able to analyze, in person, how the educational system works at school in Japan. The largest contribution will be directed towards Portuguese-Japanese bilingual schools, whether public or private, since the scholarship holder will be able to implement an improvement in the teaching of the Japanese language and the values of Japanese culture”, pointed out Erika.
Teachers interested in participating in the selection process must provide complete documentation upon registration, take the documents to the Japanese Consulate or send them via Post Office. In addition to going through other stages, such as document analysis and interviews.
The scholarship offered is worth R$5,560 and lasts for 1 year and six months, starting in October 2023. In addition to the scholarship, the educator will be awarded a Japanese language course in the first six months of participation.
