Janja misses the party, turns to social media and generates rumors – 02/17/2023 – Politics

After a week of overexposure, including scenes from the official trip to the United States, first lady Rosângela da Silva, known as Janja, submerged.

For six days without publishing her image on social networks, Janja missed the PT’s 43rd anniversary celebration on Monday (13th), despite having a reserved seat on the event’s stage.

On the following day, Tuesday (14), the First Lady also did not attend the dinner to celebrate the party’s anniversary, nor did she accompany President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and his entourage on the official trip to Bahia.

For Monday night, organizers of the event had reserved a spot for Janja alongside her husband.

Minutes before the beginning of the act, however, they were informed that the first lady would not attend so that she could dedicate herself to the preparations for the trip to the Northeast, in which she did not participate either.

In the act for the anniversary of the PT, it was the president of the Perseu Abramo Foundation, Paulo Okamotto, who sat in the chair destined for the first lady, next to Lula.

According to her publicist, Janja is undergoing eye treatment. In the second, she had tests that required pupil dilation and did not recover in time to arrive at the event. Also according to the advisory, a rest of 48 hours was recommended as a result of the treatment.

The first lady’s virtual retreat had already begun. In the first ten days of February, Janja posted 18 images of herself on Twitter. From the 11th to the 16th, Janja made only two posts on the net. She doesn’t appear in them.

On Wednesday (15), she published a photograph of the dog Resistência in the gardens of the Palácio da Alvorada. The day before, she played a promotional video of the government’s actions published on Lula’s page. For three days there were no posts.

This seclusion contrasts with the pace of posts from February 3 to 10, the day on which five photos of the first lady were published, two of which alongside the American president, Joe Biden.

“Brazil shining in the world! Accompanying @lulaoficial on this day that marks another stage in the resumption of our country’s international protagonism. Thanks, @JoeBidenfor the reception”, wrote the first lady.

In addition to the images next to the US president —sources of inspiration for memes on social networks—, Janja also took to the internet a flower arrangement sent by the American first lady, Jill Biden.

“Thanks Jill!” he posted.

Since then, Janja has adopted a different stance on social media and on Lula’s agendas.

The absence of the first lady in the PT’s anniversary events and in the president’s recent trips fueled, among allies, rumors that she had been oriented to preserve her image, even preventing her popularity from overlapping that of Lula.

In the specific case of PT events, her absence is interpreted as a sign of quarrels with the leadership of the party founded by her husband.

Janja’s protagonism in Brasilia has also strained the relationship between centrão leaders and the government. Members of the political group criticize the influence of the first lady and even mention her presence at the meeting between Lula, ministers and the top of Congress on January 8th.

People close to the couple, however, claim that resistance and estrangement from Janja’s performance are caused by jealousy of coreligionists and machismo.
