The Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, participates in the 2023 Carnival as a guest only. An icon of the party in Bahia, her participation is restricted this year due to her position at the Esplanada dos Ministérios.
Margareth will not participate in the Bloco Os Mascarados or Trio Afropop in Salvador, parties that she led. But on Saturday (18), she will receive a tribute at Camarote 2222, where she performs at the invitation of singer Gilberto Gil and his wife, Flora Gil.
On the same day, he receives an honorable mention at Galo da Madrugada, in Recife.
On Sunday (19), it will be honored by the Estação Primeira da Mangueira, in Rio de Janeiro and will have a prominent space in one of the floats that will parade in Sapucaí.
The 2023 plot exalts Africa in Bahia, through musicality, carnival institutions and the black female role in strengthening Afro-Brazilian identity. The tribute was already scheduled even before President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was elected.
