Janja hears musician ask for Lula in jail and cuts ties – 04/04/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

A fan of Milton Nascimento, to whom he recently declared his admiration in a Globo program that honored him, the first lady Rosângela da Silva, Janja, also idolizes a band in particular: A Cor do Som. The group, formed at the end of the 1970s by Armandinho, Ary Dias, the brothers Mu and Dadi Carvalho and Gustavo Schroeter, has always had a captive place in his list of MPB favorites.

In the book “Janja – The Militant Who Became First Lady” (Editora Máquina de Livros), authors Ciça Guedes and Murilo Fiuza de Melo tell that the sociologist listens to the group’s successes since she was 12 and, when she was still single, toured the country looking for their shows.

She ended up becoming friends with the musicians. Once, however, after a show, at a get-together in a bar, she was disappointed when drummer Schroeter declared himself a Bolsonarist and started to speak ill of Lula (PT), saying that the former president should remain in prison. The friendship ended there. After the “incident”, they never spoke again. Janja severed ties for good.

The period in which Lula was imprisoned also yields interesting moments in the book. Although it was never disclosed when Janja started to visit him in Curitiba, the first tête-à-tête only took place on April 18, 2019, a year after the PT member was jailed.

Meetings with relatives took place on Thursdays and lasted an hour on average. Part of the family time was given to his girlfriend. The couple, however, did not have the right to an intimate visit, the authors recall in one of the excerpts.

Journalists Ciça Guedes and Murilo Fiuza de Melo also wrote “Todas As Mulheres dos Presidentes”, which tells the story of 34 Brazilian first ladies.
