Jair Bolsonaro: ‘They are fishing for fish in a pool’ – 01/29/2024 – Mônica Bergamo

Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) told the column that the intention of the search and seizure operation launched this Monday (29) by the Federal Police at his house in Angra dos Reis is to “make fun” of him and his family .

The PF targeted one of his sons, councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (Republicanos-RJ).

“They want to mock me, make me feel embarrassed,” he says.

Bolsonaro states that the intention is to find something that involves him in a crime, but that this “will not happen”, as he would not be involved with the parallel Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) mentioned in the investigation.

“They’re throwing nets, fishing in the pool. There are no fish,” he says.

According to lawyer Fábio Wajngarten, who is with the former president in Angra dos Reis, Bolsonaro went fishing at 5:50 am, taking advantage of the favorable weather conditions.

Carlos and senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) went with him.

The PF arrived at Angra’s house at 7am, and only entered the residence at 7:30am.

Bolsonaro and his children were on the high seas, with a weak communication signal. It was only around 8am that they received the information and then returned to the house.

The residence in Angra dos Reis is the same, in fact, where the family recorded a live broadcast on Sunday (28) to talk about the investigations into an alleged “Abin Paralela”, which would have operated in the Bolsonaro government under the command of today’s federal deputy. Carlos would have become a target after cell phones and computers seized from properties in Ramagem would have shown that the councilor was one of the recipients of information that Abin collected about the family’s political opponents, who would be illegally spied on.

In addition to Carlos, the police are also investigating alleged use of the agency to favor Flávio and Jair Renan, also the son of the former president, as shown in the Sheet.

On Sunday’s live, Bolsonaro denied the existence of a parallel Abin, said that the investigation is just a “narrative” and called Ramagem a “fantastic guy”.

In addition to the house in Angra, the PF targets the councilor’s office and a residence in Rio de Janeiro. The action was authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), and warrants are also served in Formosa (GO) and Salvador (BA).

According to the PF, this Monday’s measures aim to “advance in the political core, identifying the main recipients and beneficiaries of information produced illegally within the scope of Abin [Agência Brasileira de Inteligência]”.

Reports produced by the agency under Bolsonaro and the use of First Mile spy software are at the center of the PF investigation. Last Thursday (25), the PF launched operation Close Surveillance, an offshoot of the Last Mile, launched in October 2023.

The police are investigating whether the agency used geolocation software and whether it produced reports on STF ministers and politicians opposing the former president.
