The exhibitions aim to intensify the entrepreneurial culture

Manaus (AM) – The Municipality of Manaus, through the Municipal Department of Labor, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Semtepi), promoted two Itinerant Handicraft Fairs, with a total revenue of R$ 46,651.35, at the Social Urban Center (CSU) of the Park 10 de Novembro, Zona Centro-Sul and at the Folk Festival of Amazonas, at the Centro Cultural dos Povos da Amazônia, Zona Sul.

The fairs took place throughout the month of the June festival promoted by the City of Manaus, from the 9th of June to the 9th of that month, at the CSU camp in Parque 10, with R$ 43,144.35; and at the Amazonas Folk Festival, at the Centro Cultural dos Povos da Amazônia, from June 11 to 25, with revenues of R$ 3,507.00.

The exhibitions aim to intensify the entrepreneurial culture, through sales of handicrafts produced with materials from the Amazon and hand-made items, in addition to providing a business environment and the generation of employment and income for the category.

“Craft fairs have a significant economic impact on our city, as they bring together in one place the skill, creativity and originality of our local artists. We are looking for partnerships, expanding the publicity and infrastructure of these events, aiming to attract more visitors and potential buyers”,

According to data from the Department of Solidarity and Creative Economy (Desc), Semtepi currently has around 1,500 registered artisans. In all, 45 artisans were selected, through a raffle, to exhibit their products during the events. Merchandise ranges from key chains, bags, jewelry, indigenous handicrafts, children’s clothing, platforms, to items for pets.

The fair held at the Centro Cultural dos Povos da Amazônia, resumed on the 14th, will continue until the 26th, with five stalls and two artisans in each, selling the most diverse articles.
