The invitation to governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos-SP) to participate in the May 1st act in Vale do Anhangabaú, in the central region of São Paulo, has generated demands on the trade union centrals that head the organization of the event.

In 2023, the event will be unified, that is, it will bring together the main centrals, such as CUT, Força Sindical, UGT, CSB, CTB, among others.

In addition to Tarcísio, an exponent of Bolsonarism, the centrals also invited parliamentarians outside the orbit of the left, to which it is closer, such as the mayors of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), and of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG). .

In a note, Apeoesp (Union of Teachers of Official Education of the State of São Paulo), one of the largest unions affiliated to the CUT, said it did not accept the decision of the centrals for the invitation and stated that the governor is not committed to the working class.

In the text, entitled “The First of May is Ours”, Apeoesp criticizes the proposal for a new administrative reform and the proposed privatization of Sabesp.

CSP-Conlutas had already announced that it would not participate in the May 1 act because it disagreed with the invitation to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who has already confirmed his presence. The central says it is against the presence of any ruler.

The invitation to Tarcísio led to a position of rejection. CSP-Conlutas says it considers it an aggravating factor that “on a historic date for the working class, union centrals invite Governor Tarcísio, an exponent of Bolsonarism in the country and the ills caused by the Bolsonaro administration, to share a platform”.

Leaders of trade union centrals claim that the invitation to the governor follows the same principle of pluralism adopted in recent years, when politicians who are not on the left spectrum were called, such as Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Rodrigo Maia and João Doria.

In addition, they point out that Tarcísio has also made gestures that signal the intention of dialogue. One example mentioned is the release of the Água Branca park so that the MST can hold its National Agrarian Reform Fair, from May 11th to 14th.
