Internacional opens Brasileirão with a comeback victory over Bahia 2-1

In the other duel of the round, Criciúma drew 1-1 with Juventude
After a busy second half, Internacional defeated Bahia, 2-1, in the debut of both teams in Series A of the 2024 Brazilian Championship. Wesley and Fernando scored the Colorado goals and Biel scored for Bahia in the this Saturday night (13), at the Beira Rio stadium, in Porto Alegre.
In the first stage, the teams took turns creating danger for the opponent. Thiago Maia and Borré scared Bahia goalkeeper Marcos Felipe, while on the other side Éverton Ribeiro finished close to Rochet’s post.
The goals only came in the final stage. In the 24th minute, Biel received the ball on the left, cut to the middle and the deflected shot deceived Rochet, easily entering the Colorado goal. Bahia 1-0 on the scoreboard.
However, the Bahian Tricolor barely had time to celebrate. Three minutes later, a throw-in from the left went past Maurício, missed the mark and found Wesley free inside the area. He played it between Marcos Felipe’s legs and equalized.
In the 37th minute, Colorado turned the score around. The winning goal came after a corner kick from the right. Fernando rose higher than everyone and headed with force, Marcos Felipe even touched the ball, but it went in. .
The two teams return to the field in the middle of the week for the second round of the Brasileirão. Next Tuesday (16), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), Bahia will host Fluminense at Arena Fonte Nova. The following day, at 8pm, Internacional visits Palmeiras at Arena Barueri.
Criciúma scores the 1st goal of the Brasileirão
In the other opening match of the Brasileirão at 6:30 pm this Saturday (13), Criciúma hosted Juventude – both fresh from the 2023 Series B – at the Heriberto Hülse Stadium, in Criciúma (SC). The home team scored the first goal of the 2024 edition of the Brasileirão, but Juventude scored the equalizer.
In the 35th minute, after a ball raised in the area on the left, Marcelo Hermes headed towards the middle, Renato Kayzer dominated, turned and touched to open the score for Criciúma.
In the second half, after stealing the ball in the 18th minute, Jean Carlos advanced from the right, cut to the middle and shot hard, low, to equalize.
In the next round, both teams enter the field on the same day and time. Next Wednesday (17), at 8pm, Criciúma visits Atlético-MG, while Juventude hosts Corinthians.
