The president of the Council of Maintainers and member of the Higher Council of Instituto Liberal, Sallim Mattar, received the Guardians of Liberty Award during the Acton University 2023 conference in Michigan (USA).
This is an honor created by the Acton Institute in 2009, intended to recognize the great merit of personalities who stood out in the fight for the principles of freedom and virtue defended by the institution.
The Liberal Institute was created by Donald Stewart Jr. in Rio de Janeiro in 1983. Its mission is to spread and defend liberalism, in its various theoretical aspects. Salim received the honor, due to his role in the Brazilian liberal movement since the 1980s. “This award is recognition for the work I have carried out since the 1980s with the Liberal Institute and the Leaders Training Institutes for the right to freedom and the free market. I am very happy and honored with the homage from this prestigious international institute”, stated Salim Mattar.
