ineligibility process goes to the Electoral Justice of SP

The Minister of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) Benedito Gonçalves decided, on Monday (10), that the action that can make the deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) ineligible for the next eight years must be processed in the Electoral Justice of São Paulo.
The lawsuit was brought by the deputies Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) and Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL-SP), in November last year. Parliamentarians accuse Zambelli of disseminating fake news on electronic ballot boxes and the voting process.
Zambelli’s defense had asked for the case to be tried in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The lawyers based the request on the connection with other processes that deal with the same issue.
“The concentration, in the General Electoral Internal Affairs, of all actions filed in any units of the federation regarding similar facts is not justified, to the detriment of the swift processing of actions related to the presidential election”, attested Minister Benedito Gonçalves.
Now, the process is in charge of the judge. Silmar Fernandes, who is the regional electoral corregidor of São Paulo. The report of People’s Gazette contacted Deputy Carla Zambelli’s team, but did not receive a response until the publication of this text.
