January 30th will be the date that marks the start of classes for children and teenagers who are part of the social swimming project, Peixinhos Voadores, at the Amapá Military Police Barracks. The expectation is that all students at the center will participate, as explained by the teacher and project coordinator, Sebastião Mota.

“We are going to have a big party on the day of the inaugural class, on January 30th. We are completing some adjustments and everything will be ready to welcome the children with all the affection in the world”, he said.

The project, which has already served more than 20 thousand children and adolescents aged 4 to 17, is carried out in five centers (Macapá, Santana, Mazagão, Laranjal do Jari and Oiapoque). Furthermore, Peixinhos Voadores is inclusive and has 80 autistic students enrolled.

To enroll, two 3×4 photos, the birth certificate and a person responsible for the student are required at the time of registration. Classes take place in the morning (from 8 am to 9:40 am) and afternoon (from 3 pm to 5:40 pm), from Monday to Friday. The project is free, but grants are accepted.

As a swimmer and Air Force soldier, Professor Mota passes on the lessons he learned during his sporting career. More than 16 thousand children and young people have taken part in Peixinhos Voadores over the years.

In 21 years of operation, Peixinhos Voadores has served more than 20 thousand children in Amapá, offering swimming classes to children, teenagers and people with disabilities.
