Defend democracy and rescue Fiesp’s political importance in the debate public, things that you have done with so much competence, should be a reason for honor and applause from all the members of the entity. says the group’s letter sent to Josué Gomes da Silva.

acting president

On Friday (20), the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp) declared it had a new president — at least on an interim basis.

The entity released a statement in which the then vice-president Elias Miguel Haddad is announced as an interim substitute for Josué Gomes da Silva, removed from his position in an assembly held by union leaders last Monday, 16.

In response, Gomes said, through another official letter, released at 8 pm, that he received the movement with “absolute surprise” and that the decision of his opponents is to “continue the dubious purpose of removing a regularly elected president”. Gomes classifies the attitude as “isolated, disproportionate and irresponsible”, which poses “economic, legal and labor risks” to the entity, and accuses the assembly that decided to demote him as “clandestine”. “I therefore inform you that no act, including eventual and abusive dismissal of employees, is authorized by this Presidency”. The businessman ends the statement by saying that “those responsible will suffer administrative, labor and eventually consequences in other spheres.”

Appointed by the Gomes opposition, Haddad is 95 years old and is the oldest vice-president of the entity. His ascension to the interim presidency is foreseen in article 29 of the institution’s statute, until a decision is made, within a period of 30 days from the removal of Gomes, between the three “numbered” vice-presidents, who are, in order, Rafael Cervone Netto, who also occupies the presidency of the Center of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Ciesp); Dan Ioschpe and Marcelo Campos.
