In response to Malafaia, Aneel says that supervision of the CEA will change – News of Brazil

The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) stated that in 2024 inspections of the company CEA Equatorial will change and no longer have a merely “guiding” and “determinative”.
The statement occurred this week in response to the action filed by the federal deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (@malafaiadorinaldo), from PDT, against abuses committed by the energy concessionaire.
In the process, Malafaia requested the suspension of meter changes without prior notice, the end of power cuts on weekends and holidays and cuts in the homes of vulnerable people, among other points in which the parliamentarian stated that Aneel has no satisfactorily inspected by Equatorial.
“Regarding the act of carrying out inspection in compliance with article 4 of Normative Resolution n⁰ 846/2019, it is first necessary to comply with the concession contract n⁰ 01/2021- Aneel, which establishes in Subclause Fifth, of Clause Nineteen, that the supervision carried out by Ameel will have a guiding and/or determining nature in the first years of the contract’s validity”, says an excerpt from Aneel’s response, which concludes on another point.
“Finally, it should be noted that in 2024, with the end of the guidance inspections, inspections will be carried out at CEA Equatorial (…) all the points raised by the author [Dorinaldo] will be subject to evaluation”, finalized the agency.

Deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia stated, this Friday, the 26th, that he hopes that the agency actually fulfills what it stated.
“Aneel stated that it could not apply penalties to CEA, but that now, in 2024, it will inspect the company. It’s good that this is the case, as complaints about fines and exorbitant charges on the population continue to arrive during our mandate. We will remain vigilant”concluded the deputy.
The legal process brought by the parliamentarian continues in the 6th Federal Court of Justice.
