Exemption

The objective is to encourage the practice of healthy habits, according to deputy Mayara Pinheiro

Manaus (AM) – Authored by state deputy Dr. Mayara Pinheiro Reis (Republicans), Law No. 6,742/2024 guarantees exemption from payment of the registration fee for races, walks and cycling events, carried out on public roads in Amazonas, for athletes from low income.

For Dr. Mayara, the law is a way to encourage the practice of healthy habits through sport and a tool for inclusion.

“Ensuring this access at sporting events is essential because, in addition to encouraging the practice of physical activity, it strengthens the fight against social vulnerabilities and risks. Imagine how many difficulties are encountered when preparing for a competition, lack of financial resources, so I believe that this exemption can help a lot for the inclusion and socialization of these athletes”,

justified the deputy.

According to the Law, 5% of the maximum registration quota must be reserved for athletes with a monthly income of less than 1 minimum wage or who are assisted by official social programs.

Failure to comply with this Law may result in a fine, depending on the size of the sporting event and the amount of the fine will be donated to the State Sports and Leisure Fund (FEEL).

If, when requesting the exemption, the beneficiary athlete does not participate in the run, walk or cycling event and does not justify it, he or she may only request a new exemption after 90 (ninety) days.

Proof of income and procedures necessary to guarantee the registration fee exemption benefit will be established by the event organizers.
