Images from the internal security circuit at Rome airport, which may have recorded the attacks on Minister Alexandre de Moraes last Friday (14), should arrive in Brazil by the end of this week, according to Minister Flávio Dino, of Justice.

The request for investigation cooperation between the Brazilian and Italian authorities is in progress and seeks to clarify the circumstances of the aggression against the magistrate of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and his son.

The recordings were requested by the Federal Police attache in Rome and forwarded to the Italian police. In parallel, the Brazilian authority has already taken testimony from the three Brazilians who would have harassed Moraes. According to Flávio Dino, the suspects will be investigated for crimes provided for in the Brazilian Constitution.

“We have the application of the law in force in the place where the crime was, in theory, committed, but, in some cases, Brazilian law may apply even if the fact is committed abroad,” he said in an interview with GloboNews this Monday (17).

According to the minister, with a double classification, that is, of crime in both Brazil and Italy, the Brazilian authority starts to investigate what happened. “No one can be punished twice for the same fact”, he added.

The Federal Police is investigating the three Brazilians for crimes against honor and threats. Moraes was returning to Brazil from a lecture at the International Law Forum when he was harassed by the group. The three Brazilians landed at São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport on Saturday morning (15) and were expected by the Brazilian authority.
