Provoked this Saturday the 5th, at the event ‘Amazon Dialogues’, in Belém, the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, denied the existence of discussion or impediment by Ibama on oil exploration in Foz do Amazonas.
“Ibama does not facilitate or hinder oil exploration”he stated.
According to the minister, licenses granted or denied are not ideological.
“Obviously, when you are not a denialist, what science and technology say matters when making decisions. Ibama does not make it difficult or easy, Ibama has a technical opinion that must be observed”, pointed out, during a press conference, in Bethlehem.
Marina also spoke about the request for reassessment of the license requested by Petrobras.
“In the licensing process, the entrepreneur has the right to resubmit the proposal. Petrobras has already resubmitted the proposal, and lbama, with complete exemption, will make this assessment, because in a republican government, technicians are free to give their opinion, and the authorities, who must make public policies in evidence, must look at what the technicians are saying”he stated.
The minister concluded by saying that the more than 2,000 licenses already granted to Petrobras, over time, they were not ideological.
Thus, the denied licenses would not be ideological either, but technical.
