Hilton asks for removal of PL deputy for homotransphobia – 07/11/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

Federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP) sent the President of the House, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), a representation in which she demands the impeachment of Abílio Brunini (PL-MT), accused of making a homotransphobic attack against the parliamentarian in this Tuesday (11), during the January 8 CPI.

The episode occurred after the deputy criticized the Bolsonarist deputy. Brunini had already been reprimanded by the chairman of the commission, Arthur Maia (União-BA), for filming and making fun of those present, who were questioning army lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid.

In response to his colleague’s behavior, Hilton stated that the PL deputy needed to “deal with his need in another space”, since Congress would be a serious place. The deputy continued with her speech, but was interrupted by Senator Rogério Carvalho (PT-SE).

“Your Abilio was homophobic”, denounced the petista. “He made a homophobic speech when his companion was demonstrating, he accused and said that she was ‘offering services’. This is homophobia, it is disrespectful. I ask your Excellency that you ask the deputy to withdraw from the plenary”, he said. .

The filed impeachment request is signed by the PSOL bench in the Chamber. In the document, the party asks Lira to forward the case to the Council of Ethics and Parliamentary Decorum so that measures can be adopted against the alleged breach of decorum practiced by Brunini.

According to the bench, the deputy would have dishonored the position for which he was elected, “abusing the guaranteed prerogatives to commit illegalities”, by uttering the alleged offense.

“The represented [Abílio Brunini] uses an extremely vile artifice in order to keep its electoral base in constant agitation: a video/cutting is published in flagrant attack on a certain social minority, which generates engagement of the base and expansion of the discourse that incites the violation of human rights”, affirms the representation.

The document also says that deputy Erika Hilton was the target not only of homotransphobia – a practice considered criminal -, but also of political gender violence. “The statement by federal deputy Abílio Brunini is extremely serious and violates the legal and social order established by the Constitution”, she points out.

The PSOL president, Juliano Medeiros, and the party deputies Guilherme Boulos (SP), Fernanda Melchionna (RS), Tarcísio Motta (RJ), Chico Alencar (RJ), Célia Xakirabá (MG), Glauber Braga (RJ) sign the representation. ), Pastor Henrique Vieira (RJ), Ivan Valente (SP), Luciene Cavalcante (SP), Luiza Erundina (SP), Sâmia Bomfim (SP) and Talíria Petrone (RJ).

Rede deputy Túlio Gadelha (PE) also endorses the impeachment request.

This is not the first time that PSOL represents against Brunini before the Ethics Council. The caption has already asked that the parliamentarian be investigated for questioning the destruction caused in the buildings of the three Powers during the coup acts of January 8.
