The Hebraica São Paulo club organizes, at 7:30 pm this Monday (17th), a discussion on totalitarianism and the ideas of Hannah Arendt, a Jewish philosopher who fled Germany in the early 1930s, amid the rise of Nazism.
At the event, Celso Lafer, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and former ambassador of the country to the United Nations, will speak with journalist Eugênio Bucci. The latter is a professor at the USP School of Communication and Arts and a columnist for the newspaper Estadão.
The conversation will take place at Espaço Mitzpé, in the Pinheiros neighborhood, in São Paulo.
The work of the German philosopher is important for understanding totalitarian regimes and their implications for society. In her book “As Origens do Totalitarismo”, for example, she analyzes the ideologies that supported the totalitarian regimes of the 1930s and 1940s.
His work is based on studies at universities in various parts of the world.
