The Workers’ Cause Party (PCO) released this Monday (4) a video in which Basem Naim, leader of the terrorist group Hamas, said he was “honored” by the statements made by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who, when calling for a cease -fire in the Gaza Strip, compared Israel’s offensive in the Palestinian enclave to the Holocaust.

In the video, released during a PCO event, Naim called Brazil a “Palestinian-friendly country” before praising Lula.

“We are truly honored by all the current statements from officials, in particular, the statements by President Lula, about his commitment and courageous stances to support the Palestinian cause and, in particular, to call for a ceasefire and to stop this aggression against the our people”, said the terrorist leader.

In February, Lula declared that “what is happening in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian people” can only be compared to what happened when “Hitler decided to kill the Jews” and called the Israeli offensive in Gaza genocide.

At the time, Hamas classified the speech as an “accurate description” of events in Gaza. The Brazilian president was declared persona non grata by the Israeli government, but maintained the accusation of genocide in subsequent statements.

Israel carries out an offensive in the Gaza Strip in response to Hamas terrorist attacks on its territory on October 7 last year, when around 1,200 people were killed and 250 were kidnapped – more than a hundred remain hostage.

The Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health claims that 30,500 people have died in the enclave since the start of the war, but Israel disputes these figures.
