On the Financial Times home page from Monday to Tuesday (image below), Fernando Haddad writes about “Brazil’s plans to transform our economy green”, a change “under the leadership of President Lula and in close cooperation with my colleague Marina Silva”.

It promises “greener infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, reforestation, circular economy, greater use of technology in production processes and climate adaptation”. On the trip to New York, to begin with, he released “green bonds“, to raise up to US$2 billion.

The day before, their statements to Band were echoed via Reuters, under the title “Brazil will probably explore the Equatorial Margin for oil, says Finance Minister”. It is the “vision that will prevail” in the government, believes Haddad, highlighting Petrobras’ “environmental precautions”:

“It’s a biodiversity sanctuary, we have to take care of it. The Foz do Amazonas there. Anyone who knows it knows that it is spectacularly rich. Now, kilometers away, Guyana is exploring on the platform on the Equatorial Margin. Let’s be careful, with all caution.”

According to industry websites, such as Oil Price, pre-salt oil has achieved “unprecedented global popularity”.
