The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, met this Monday afternoon (20) with the presidents of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), and of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), to present the government proposal of the new fiscal framework. Haddad said that the proposal is in the final stages and was well received by congressmen, but it depends on specific adjustments.

According to Haddad, the meeting responds to a request by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) before the official announcement of the text. “We set out the general lines of the framework that will be announced by the President of the Republic. I think the reception from both the leaders and the presidents was very good, as well as the ministers on Friday”, he declared.

The minister also informed that “an account on constitutional obligations” is missing to be sure about the parameters of the new spending ceiling. Haddad also reiterated that the government’s proposal should be made public before Lula’s trip to China.

After the meeting with Haddad, Pacheco spoke on social networks, highlighting the importance of combining investments and fiscal sustainability. “We have to promote a broad discussion in Congress, in order to ensure the investments that need to be made in the areas of health, education, security, infrastructure, in addition to social projects, but without neglecting the sustainability of public accounts. “, he wrote.
