Governor expands dialogue with Germany to strengthen sustainable development cooperation – News of Brazil

With a focus on strengthening international partnerships for sustainable development, the governor of Amapá, Clécio Luís, met with the advisor for Economic Affairs at the German Embassy, Benjamin George, during Startup20, an international event that transformed Amapá into the world headquarters for innovation and technology over four days.
The dialogue dealt with issues such as access to electricity and the surplus production of clean energy in Amapá. Negotiations were also discussed to strengthen internet services and carry out community-based sustainable forest management.
“I was very interested in visiting Amapá, because I think it has a lot of good things to show, to experience. I am very happy to be here, to have been able to talk to the governor, to realize that there is a lot of complementarity between Brazil and Germany. There are also many possibilities to share knowledge between our countries to create new options for the future”declared George.
Seeking to expand dialogue with the European country, during the meeting, Clécio Luís invited the German ambassador, Bettina Cadenbach, to visit Amapá.
“We want to talk about Amapá to the world. We invited the German ambassador to come and see the riches of our state, because we have many business and partnership prospects”, said the governor.
With an office installed at Startup20, in addition to receiving the German delegation, Clécio Luís strengthened dialogue with other countries, such as South Africa, the United States and Switzerland. At the meetings, ideas and proposals for bilateral cooperation were shared in search of promoting sustainable development.
Amapá in the spotlight
Promoted by the Brazilian Association of Startups (Abstartups) in partnership with the Government of the State of Amapá and Sebrae, Startup20 took place for the first time in Brazil, hosted in Amapá from February 23 to 26, and brought together authorities, representatives and businesspeople from various countries to debate alternatives for the planet.
Startup20 was another way to position Amapá before the world, to strengthen international relations and to put the state’s powers in the spotlight in debates about the future of the Amazon, under the pillars of innovation, technology and sustainability.
Also participating in the meeting were the president of Abstartups, Ingrid Barth; and Larissa Diniz, technician at the State Secretariat for International Relations and Foreign Trade.
