Governor Clécio receives Minister of Health to launch work in Oiapoque – News of Brazil

The governor, Clécio Luís receives this Saturday, 13th, the Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade Lima, in Amapá to sign a contract for the first stage of construction of the Transborder Health Surveillance Center, in the municipality of Oiapoque, in the extreme north of the state, bordering French Guiana.
The work, which is part of the Government’s Plan for the development of international policy, is part of the negotiations between Amapá and French Guiana, defined during the 12th Meeting of the Mixed Cross-Border Commission Brazil and France (CMT), held in Cayenne, in July 2023.
The initiative strengthens the relationship between the two countries, ratified during the official visit of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, to Brazil, to meet with the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which was attended by governor Clécio Luís, in Brasília, in the Federal District.
The construction of the Center begins with the work on the new Border Laboratory (Lafron), which concentrates health surveillance demands in the Franco-Brazilian region, such as monitoring all types of diseases, preventing them from spreading to the rest of the states in both countries. The strategy will also favor the exchange of fundamental information for the construction of an appropriate international policy for the prevention and control of epidemics in the region.
The dissemination of epidemiological information and technical guidance in the most varied spheres of management, as well as for the media with the general population, is part of the action planning of the new structure. The proposal also seeks to intensify the coordinated response to emergencies of national and regional importance, training professionals to apply modern methods for analyzing statistics in the surveillance process and responses to emergencies.
About the center
The Transborder Health Surveillance Center will have an integrated structure for monitoring and responding to emergencies at the border with: bioinformatics room, meeting room, accommodation, laboratory unit with reception area, administration, restrooms, pantry and laboratory environments (Lafron).
