The government of São Paulo will reduce the financing rate for projects and works related to risk mitigation and prevention of climatic and environmental disasters, as well as recovery of areas affected by tragedies such as the one that hit the north coast of the state during Carnival.
The works that fall into these categories, according to the definition of the State Coordination of Protection and Civil Defense, will be financed based on the Selic rate, without additional interest. The resources will come from the financing lines of Desenvolvimento SP, the state government’s development agency. Rates normally increase by 3% per year over the Selic rate.
The measure is one more of the package that the state government has announced to provide financial aid to populations affected by the storm, in cities like São Sebastião. Loan resources from the Banco do Povo have also been announced, in addition to specific lines for the affected cities and companies.
